About us
Target Training have developed a series of master classes for people who either intend to or are already developing career and business opportunities in the following industries:

  • Film
  • Television
  • Visual Arts
  • Theatre
  • Literature
  • Design
  • Radio
  • Music (we are the official training division of the Music Manager's Forum see: (http://www.mmf-training.com)

Whether you are self-employed, unemployed, a freelancer, employed by any small business or a student hoping to make a living in the arts and entertainment industries these sessions are for you.

Target Training was established by Stuart Worthington a professional creative industries consultant with over twenty years experience. It was set up to provide training and business support programmes to the creative industries - with the emphasis on helping owner-managers in the sector not only establish and develop their own business opportunities but also sustain or stay in business by avoiding predictable pitfalls. The programmes are usually provided with the full support of various business support services (including Business Link and Chamber Business Enterprises in Manchester). In our experience practitioners often encounter unforeseen problems, circumstances or developments that are completely unique to the creative sector. There are a myriad of courses and seminars available on artistic and production aspects within these industries - but a lack of good quality advice and practical support around business issues.

We believe the best way of establishing or developing a professional company in the creative industries is access to successful entrepreneurs who have already 'been there - done that'. We provide this access through our master classes - assembling panels of guest speakers to discuss and debate a wide variety of relevant topics. By answering questions about their own experiences, opinions, successes and even failures we provide you with a valuable insight, knowledge and information.

Based on 'network learning' principles the master class programmes are as applicable to the most experienced professionals and employees as they are to those graduating or aspiring to start their own business. They provide:

  • Analysis of a whole range of contractual agreements
  • Overviews of career options, income streams and markets
  • Updates on current industry practice and issues
  • Signposting to other support services, industry professionals, trade associations and collection societies
  • Up to date information on copyright issues, how best to protect/exploit your Intellectual Property and the impact of technology
  • Advice on marketing, publicity, sponsorship, money management, raising finance, negotiation and a whole range of topics specifically relevant to your sector

Over the past decade we have designed, developed and delivered master class programmes to literally thousands of creative and cultural practitioners.
